Content Creators are the new “it” wedding vendors. Commonly bunched in the category of videographers, Content Creators offer a unique service specifically designed for a generation that values instant gratification and a more casual, realistic approach to capturing the events of the day.
We recently sat down with Abby Norman of Aglow Media Collective on the Vegas is for Lovers podcast to discuss the nuts and bolts of content creation.
VFL: So, Abby, why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Abby: I’ve been born and raised in Las Vegas. And I started A Glow Media collective about two years ago. I started with a marketing agency (I still do that) but then about a little over a year ago was when I was full time, fully promoting my wedding content services more and then it kind of just blew up from there.
VFL: It’s caught on very quickly here and I feel like you’ve paved the way for content creators as of recently with your educational promotion and the back end content you’re posting for other creators. It’s like you’re starting a community of creators. Do you feel like you’re building a community or competition?
Abby: I don’t like to think of it as competition for me because I have a different style. We all have different styles and I believe couples who book with me, book because they like my style. So I don’t get upset when they don’t book with me because they found a different content creator that better fit their specific style.
VFL: How would you describe your style?
Abby: I always say premium with a little bit of cinematic. And I’ve trained my team to keep that style because that is what we’re known for and that’s why couples hire us. I always ask couples why they chose us and they say “I love your style”. It’s classy and timeless and they feel like they can do a lot with it.
VFL: A lot of couples are asking if they should get a content creator or a videographer. What do you say to that?
Abby: I would ask them what their preference is. Most of the time it comes down to budget, but if they want a more professional, cinematic video, I would go for a videographer. But if you want hundreds of iphone videos straight to your phone, get a content creator. Personally, for my wedding, I had both because I wanted a more professional camera for a cinematic type video but I also wanted a bunch of video to look back on.
VFL: Looking back years from now, what do you think about longevity for content?
Abby: I hope we have longevity. I’m always trying to stay updated with the newest phone and keeping up with the technology. And I always recommend storing your content in a folder, on a hard drive, to keep the quality high.
VFL: Yes! Store everything on a hard drive. Maybe two just in case and you’ll be good forever.
